Impressions
Our trip to Albufeira, Portugal, was a mix of highs and lows, and our accommodation reflected this duality. We found ourselves in a spacious villa that provided ample room for our group, which was a significant plus. The size of the pool was also a fantastic feature, allowing us to cool off and relax under the warm Portuguese sun. Clean bedding offered a sense of hygiene and comfort, which was appreciated given the older and somewhat dated nature of the villa. However, our comfort was somewhat compromised due to the lack of air conditioning, which made the warm nights challenging for restful sleep, and the pillows were terribly uncomfortable, leaving us longing for better rest after our long days of exploration.
Location-wise, being near the strip had its downsides. While it was convenient for nightlife, the noise persisted until the early hours of the morning, often keeping us awake until around 6 or 7 AM. Our excitement about visiting Portugal for the first time was somewhat dampened by our lack of familiarity with the area and the overwhelming noise. Additionally, we encountered some maintenance issues during our stay, including a hanging plug socket for the kettle that made it difficult to brew our morning coffee, and one of the patio doors wouldn't open. Thankfully, Clarisse from Interhome was attentive and sent maintenance personnel to fix these issues promptly, which was a saving grace during our trip.
Despite the few challenges we faced, such as loose tiles around the pool and broken glass along the path to the nearby bars, the staff's responsiveness contributed positively to our experience. When the pool's pumps malfunctioned and the water turned green, we were grateful that someone came out the same evening to address the problem. While the residential area had its flaws, and we were disappointed by the overall dated decor of the villa, the good-sized rooms and Clarisse’s quick attention to our needs helped salvage our vacation in Albufeira. Overall, the combination of the villa’s size and the helpful management made it a memorable trip, even if it had its ups and downs.
