Our recent trip to Albufeira, Portugal, was marred by several significant disappointments that overshadowed any potential enjoyment. Upon arrival, we were left feeling unwelcomed as the owner didn’t meet us in person but instead opted to hide the key and communicate via WhatsApp. This lack of proper greeting extended to the dismal condition of the property itself; we were greeted by unpleasant smells reminiscent of drains and urine. To add to our frustration, we discovered cockroaches scuttling about, and the constant building noise from neighboring properties, starting at 7:30 AM, shattered any hope of relaxation. The absence of air conditioning made matters worse, turning our stay into an uncomfortable ordeal. As guests, we felt more like intruders in a space that wasn’t prepared for our arrival.

Moreover, some logistical issues further compounded our dissatisfaction. We were left stranded with our luggage from 3 PM until 8 PM, with no reasonable explanation given as to why we couldn't access the property until later; the basement storage provided was insufficient and lacking in convenience. The hot water boiler was temperamental and frequently cut out mid-shower, adding to the frustrations of our stay. With cockroaches and ants calling the property home, it was unbearable. The overall experience left us wishing for better management and maintenance of the property, as the potential for a beautiful trip was overshadowed by these preventable issues. Albufeira has so much to offer, but unfortunately, our accommodation detracted from the charm of this picturesque destination.
