Corcovada, Albufeira, Algarve Apartment

My recent trip to Albufeira, Portugal, presented a mixed bag of experiences, with several shortcomings that overshadowed the positives. Upon arriving at our apartment, I was initially optimistic about our stay, especially given the fantastic outdoor space with its large balcony and convenient location. However, I quickly realized that the sliding patio doors, which opened onto this balcony, had broken locks, leaving my family feeling unsafe throughout our stay. My daughter was supposed to sleep on a pull-out couch in the room with unsecured doors, making me uneasy enough to move her to another room for her safety. Despite informing the manager about the issue the morning after our arrival, the promised repairs never materialized, leaving us vulnerable in the apartment.

The cleanliness and condition of the apartment were equally disappointing. The presence of two large grey couches in the lounge, which were stained with drink and body fluids, made it nearly impossible to feel comfortable in the living space. I had to cover them with sheets just to avoid seeing the stains, which was a significant letdown. Moreover, I had asked the manager before our arrival if there would be a hairdryer available, only to find none in the apartment, and his nonchalant response only added to my frustration. The kitchen was equally underwhelming, stocked with only plastic glasses, which suggested a lack of attention to detail. With no internal doors that could be locked either, the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the apartment fell short of expectations, making our stay less enjoyable.

On the upside, the location of the apartment in Albufeira was a major plus, allowing easy access to nearby attractions and the scenic beauty of the area. The outdoor space offered a lovely place to enjoy the fresh air, making it a great setting for relaxation despite the apartment’s flaws. The check-in process was also smooth and stress-free, which was appreciated after our long journey. However, while these positives added some value to our trip, the overall state of the apartment left much to be desired, overshadowing the bright spots of our vacation.
