Casas Barulho Albufeira Marina Apartment

My recent trip to Albufeira, Portugal, was marked by a mixture of beautiful experiences and some significant drawbacks. The location of the apartment was undoubtedly a highlight; it was conveniently situated just a 15-20 minute walk away from the charming Old Town and the stunning beach, which made exploring the town effortless. The living room was spacious and bright during the day, providing a pleasant atmosphere for relaxation. With a lovely balcony to enjoy the pleasant coastal weather, I was excited to unwind there after a day out. Ruben, our host, was exceptionally responsive and helpful, providing an excellent online guide for the apartment that came in handy during our stay.

However, despite its advantageous location and some appealing features, the apartment fell short in a few critical areas. Unfortunately, it did not quite resemble the images I had seen online; the worn floors and old wardrobe coupled with a poorly maintained shower hose left much to be desired. Additionally, the bathroom was not as clean as one would hope, with hairs spotted on the wall. The lighting in the living room was insufficient at night, and while extra lamps were available, they offered little illumination. On top of that, upon arrival, we were greeted with a strong wind, exposing a broken window that wouldn't close properly, causing drafts that disrupted our comfort. Although Ruben explained that alternative locks had been installed due to outdated models, the lack of proper insulation was disappointing.

The challenges didn't end there. The smallest burner on the stove was broken, limiting our cooking options during the trip. We also encountered noise disturbances from neighboring units, with loud music one evening and construction work early the next morning. Unfortunately, we faced a technical hitch with the TV setup, as we only had the remote for the Xiaomi TV box and not for the TV itself. Despite these inconveniences, I made the most of my trip by enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and fantastic food options around Albufeira. Ultimately, while the apartment had its downsides, the fantastic location and Ruben's hospitality contributed positively to my overall experience in this lively seaside town.
