Our recent trip to Albufeira, Portugal, was filled with both joy and challenges. Staying at the Balaia Sol certainly brought back memories from a decade ago, when my husband and I first explored this charming resort. The family-owned atmosphere was palpable, which fostered a warm and welcoming environment. While I initially felt hesitant about the €300 refundable deposit, I soon understood its necessity in maintaining the resort's quality. It's a shame, however, that the noise levels at night proved to be disruptive for my young family. With the tiled corridor floors amplifying voices and footsteps, it became tricky to keep the children asleep when the clamor of fellow guests lingered into the early hours.

Despite the noise issues, we found immense value in the resort's offerings, especially considering the friendly staff. The bar and pool crew truly made our experience memorable, and my daughters formed a special rapport with the night porter—his kindness and attentiveness were heartwarming. The overall vibe of the holiday club was indeed a fantastic bargain, making it quite worthwhile. In my opinion, while the deposit is a bit off-putting for some, it serves its purpose in helping to maintain the resort. I would suggest that perhaps returning guests be exempted from this fee to enhance the experience for families like mine who seek a peaceful retreat in this beautiful location.
